Tony and I are both under the weather so we are spending a chill Thanksgiving night in our Marrakech hotel room. Time to upload some pics!
After our splendid London visit we journeyed south on the Eurostar to Paris. We rented an apartment and spent a week checking out the major sights and eating way too many patisseries. Here are some of the more interesting pics...
| View from our apartment in the 6th Arr. |
| The stairs in our apartment (we were on the 3rd/4th floor). There was an elevator but we only used it a hand-full of times. |
| Our first dinner in Paris- Paris is expensive but we were able to pick up all of this delicious meat, cheese, veggies, and bread from the shops in our neighborhood. |
| Pidgeons bathing in the gutter after they power-washed our street |
| Paris Opera Garnier |
| We splurged ad went to see La Source, a ballet, at the Opera. The show was great (really opulent) and the building is just incredible. |
| At the opera |
| Our box, #39 |
| At Versailles- Tony wanted to visit so we made a day of it, touring the palace and enjoying the gardens. |
| It was a beautiful Fall Saturday- there were a ton of families enjoying the gardens |
| Marie Antoinette's play farm- it reminded us of the Hobbiton movie set; almost too cute and quaint to be real. |
| Sunset |
This was my 4th visit to Paris but Tony's first. Tony wanted to visit places that I'd never consider on my own. These pics are from the top of the Arc de Triomphe!
| Tony is getting really good at taking these pics with longer exposures |
After our week in Paris, we headed out of the city to visits with my high school friend Marianne who now lives with her family in a small village, Marseille-en-Beauvasis...
| Train stop |
| Marianne's neighbor |
| Evening walk... |
| Old train tunnel (yes, we walked through it) |
| Village at night |
| We took a day trip to Le Treport which is an old victorian seasid town on the Normandy coast. There are 2 villages flanked on wither side by sheer white cliffs. |
| We arrived early in the morning- it was freezing! |
| Old bunker- this area had a British hospital during WWI and was again fortified during WWII |
| French sheep ignore you as you walk past |
| Funicular to the cliffs on the west side |
| Self portrait in the sun |
| 100 kms to England |
| These cows don't look like they are laughing |
| afternoon sun |
| Seafront homes |
| Sunset at the train station |
And to finish...
| Patisseries! |
Looks gorgeous! Especially Marie Antoinette's place. It does look like something out of a movie.
